This emergency job was delivered on a Friday to Morrow Repair Service because the pump’s mechanical seals were leaking. It was disassembled, grit blasted, cleaned and inspected. Inspection revealed excessive clearance between impeller wear rings OD and case wear ring ID. In addition, the diaphragm OD and case ring OD to casing fits were excessive. MRS made new case rings, new impeller wear rings and a new diaphragm bushing out of 660 bronze. The stuffing box faces were machined to true. The suction impeller had severe cavitation and was replaced. The rotating element was balanced to 4W/N specifications. Lastly, the pump was assembled, painted and the mechanical seals were pressure tested. The pump was prepared to ship on the following Wednesday, just 5 days from receiving it.
